The Sixteenth Annual High School Poster Contest is open to students from grades 9 through 12. This contest involves students creating a poster with the theme and caption, "You can make a difference," illustrating the idea that one person can change the world for the better. Each poster must be the work of only one student and the poster concept, design and any photos or artwork used must be the original work of the student entering the competition. Posters must be 15 x 20 inches in size, including border or mat if used. If charcoal or pastel is used, the poster must be either laminated or covered with clear plastic. On the back of the poster, the following must be included: the student's name, street address, town, state and zip code, home phone number, school, school address, grade and e-mail address (if available). Posters will be judged on overall impact, effectiveness in conveying the theme, originality and artistic merit. The judges' decisions are final. All entries become the property of the Christophers and no posters will be returned.

As more and more families across America are affected by Alzheimer’s disease, many teenagers as well are becoming aware of this heartbreaking brain disease—from personal experiences in their own families, watching friends and neighbors, or involvement in community service.
In an effort to provide an outlet for teenagers to express their thoughts about Alzheimer’s disease and to engage the younger generation in this important cause, the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) is pleased to offer the AFA Teens for Alzheimer’s Awareness College Scholarship—an annual $5,000 scholarship to one deserving college-bound student.
The scholarship will be awarded to one student per year. The deadline for applications is February 15 of each year.
This scholarship provides an excellent opportunity for high school juniors and seniors (entering an accredited college or university within 12 months of the application deadline) to give thoughtful consideration to the impact Alzheimer’s disease has on their own lives and others in their family and community.
An independent committee selected by AFA will judge all timely submissions. Author identity will remain anonymous during the judging.
AFA will award the grand prize winner a $5,000 scholarship to be used toward the first year of the student’s college education.
AFA will notify the grand prize winner, along with a first and second runner-up, on April 1st. AFA will provide the scholarship payment upon receipt of official documentation of registration from the college/university that the student is attending in the following fall or spring (for example, a letter with proof of first semester’s payment from the registrar’s office). Should the scholarship winner fail to attend college within the stated time period, the scholarship will be given to the first runner-up.
AFA will post the grand prize winning essay on www.afateens.org to help inspire others. The two runners-up will receive a certificate of appreciation and their essays also will be posted on the AFA Teens Web site. AFA may publish the winning/runner-up essays in other media or utilize them for other publicity and informational purposes.

Marathon Oil Company Foundation established the Marathon Scholars Program to assist employees' children who plan to continue education in college or vocational school programs. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student's choice.
Eligibility
Applicants to the Marathon Scholars Program must be:
- Children* of regular full-time or regular part-time employees (part-time employees must have one year of service as of the application deadline) of Marathon or Speedway SuperAmerica LLC. Children of retired or deceased employees (regular full-time or part-time employees at the time of retirement or death) are also eligible.
*The program is available to sons and daughters (including legally adopted or stepchildren) and to those with legal guardian arrangements if the parent or legal guardian is, or was at the time of retirement or death, a regular full-time or regular part-time employee (part-time employees must have had one year of service).

Scholarship Description
This contest is open to all students of all national backgrounds that are currently studying in the United States. Eligible contestants must be middle or high school (7th—12th) students in a public, private, alternative, parochial, or home-study program. Previous scholarship recipients are not eligible. Recent high school graduates are eligible to participate as long as the “deadline” of the current contest falls with-in a 12-month calendar after graduation
Objective:
Write an essay and focus on the theme (see website for details), which include the history, and purpose of observance; as well as, how you intend to observe this day. Essays will be evaluated and assigned points of equal value based on the following criteria:

Scholarship Description
This contest is open to all students of all national backgrounds that are currently studying in the United States. Eligible contestants must be middle or high school (7th—12th) students in a public, private, alternative, parochial, or home-study program. Previous scholarship recipients are not eligible. Eligibility Requirements: Open to all students studying with-in the United States. Recent high school graduates are eligible to participate as long as the “deadline” of the current contest falls with-in a 12-month calendar after graduation
Objective:
Write an essay and focus on the theme (see website for details), which include the history, and purpose of observance; as well as, how you intend to observe this day. Essays will be evaluated and assigned points of equal value based on the following criteria:
Demonstrated Knowledge of the Origin of the Stated theme,
Theme Development,
Clarity of Ideas,
and Mechanics (Grammar, Spelling, Punctuation, Sentence Structure, etc.)

Contest Rules:
1. The essay MUST be the contestant’s original work. (Finalists’ essay will be scanned for plagiarism)
2. Contestants may enter one time only. (Per contest)
3. Essays must be a 1500 word minimum. (Title and footnotes do not contribute to the overall word count)
4. Quotations may be used sparingly if sources are plainly identified. (Quotations must be used for support, and should not be used in place of your original work)
5. All entries must be typewritten, double spaced and in English.
6. Contestants may not identify themselves, their schools, cities, or state with-in the essay.
7. Contestants must demonstrate knowledge of the origin and the impact of the subject theme.
8. Entry must be postmarked, or electronically received by the stated deadline as indicated above. Electronic entries must be sent in MS Word file as an attachment.

TFC Scholarship awards:
The TFC Student Essay Contest offers scholarships for high school students who have a passion to make this a better world by reducing social problems in the USA. Pick one social issue and research the cause and extent of the problem. Suggest ways to help solve this problem using methods that involve moral values and conscience. Scholarship awards are given to the winning students and their schools in the following amount.

The essay should be 5-7 pages, double-spaced, typed and stapled. Use a cover sheet stating the essay title with name, age, grade level, school name, home address, phone number and email address.
