Scholarship Description


Marathon Oil Company Foundation established the Marathon Scholars Program to assist employees' children who plan to continue education in college or vocational school programs. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student's choice.

Eligibility
Applicants to the Marathon Scholars Program must be:

- Children* of regular full-time or regular part-time employees (part-time employees must have one year of service as of the application deadline) of Marathon or Speedway SuperAmerica LLC. Children of retired or deceased employees (regular full-time or part-time employees at the time of retirement or death) are also eligible.
*The program is available to sons and daughters (including legally adopted or stepchildren) and to those with legal guardian arrangements if the parent or legal guardian is, or was at the time of retirement or death, a regular full-time or regular part-time employee (part-time employees must have had one year of service).

- High school seniors with a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) who plan to enroll in a full-time** undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university, or at an accredited vocational-technical school.

Applicants planning to enroll in an accredited college or university must take the ACT or SAT College entrance exam.


If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $500 to $1,500. Up to forty (40) awards will be granted each year as follows:

Up to thirty (30) awards will be granted to children of Marathon employees, as long as there are qualified applicants.
Up to ten (10) awards are designated for children of Speedway SuperAmerica LLC employees, as long as there are qualified applicants.
