Scholarship Description
NetAid Global Action Awards honor high school students in the U.S. who are building a brighter future for the world’s poorest people. Honorees receive $5000 and will have a celebration in honor of their achievement.
The scholarship is available to high school students living in the U.S. who have organized and led a project that has directly impacted people in developing countries or raised awareness in their own communities about global poverty.
Honorees will be chosen by a panel of judges based on the level of innovation, cooperation, leadership, inspiration and impact displayed by their work.
Issues addressed by projects should be global in nature and may include but are not limited to: alleviating hunger; promoting human rights, children's rights or gender equity; increasing access to clean drinking water, healthcare or education; preventing and treating HIV/AIDS or other diseases; and supporting a sustainable environment.

Scholarship Description
This contest is open to all students of all national backgrounds that are currently studying in the United States or in an American military school out of the country. Eligible contestants must be middle or high school (7th—12th) students in a public, private, alternative, parochial school, or a home study program. Previous scholarship recipients are not eligible. Recent high-school graduates are eligible to participate as long as the "deadline" of the current contest falls within 12 months after graduation.
Objective:
Write an essay and focus on the theme (see website for details), which includes the history and purpose of observance; as well as, how you intend to honor our flag. Essays will be evaluated and assigned points of equal value based on the following criteria:
Demonstrated Knowledge of the Origin of the Stated theme, Theme Development, Clarity of Ideas, and Mechanics (Grammar, Spelling, Punctuation, Sentence Structure, etc.)

All entries must be submitted electronically by Sunday, March 14 No exceptions will be made for late entries.

1. The essay MUST be the contestant’s original work. (Finalists’ essays will be scanned for plagiarism)
2. Contestants may enter one time only. (Per contest)
3. Essays must be a 1500 word minimum. (Cover page, title and footnotes do not contribute to the overall word count - 1499 word count is not acceptable - all rules are firm)
4. Quotations may be used sparingly and sources must be plainly identified.
5. All entries must be double spaced, and in English.
6. Contestants may not identify themselves, their schools, cities, or state within the essay.
7. Contestants must demonstrate knowledge of the origin and the impact of the Pledge of Allegiance.
8. Entry must be received by the stated deadline as indicated above. Electronic entries must be sent in MS Word file as an attachment. Do not copy either the text of the essay or the cover sheet into the body of the email.

This spring The National WWII Museum will present a special exhibit, Fighting the Fires of Hate: America and the Nazi Book Burnings. This exhibit focuses on how the book burnings became a potent symbol during World War II in America’s battle against Nazism, and concludes by examining their continued impact on our public discourse.
The National WWII Museum invites you to tell us, in your own words,
Is censorship ever justified?
Here are some questions to consider:
Can ideas threaten a nation?
Should society be able to dictate what is available to the public?
Can books be weapons?
Use WWII, the Nazi Book Burnings and the American response as a starting point and base your answer in part on examples you find in this history. But don’t stop in the past. History teaches us lessons. Should offensive material be burned or banned? This is NOT a research paper about WWII. Your essay will be judged for originality, clarity of expression, adherence to contest theme, historical accuracy, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. The best essays will include specific examples from both WWII and today. You may use examples from your own experiences, if you wish. Museum education staff will judge entries.
Rules and Guidelines:
- Contest is open to all high school students in the United States, United States Territories, and military bases.
- Your essay must be 1,000 words or less. Only one essay per student may be submitted.
- All essays should be double spaced, have 1 inch margins, include page numbers, include an essay title, typed in 12 point font, and be in Microsoft Word or a compatible format.

Law Enforcement Children Scholarship 2012-2013
Criteria: The scholarship provides financial assistance for the higher educational needs of the children (natural or adopted) of law enforcement officers.
